It’s Christmas Bag season! The children at Chanje Lakay are incredibly resilient, but they have gone through a lot of hardship in their young lives. Many struggle with the trauma of being abandoned or of not being able to see their families consistently. Christmas Bags are a beautiful opportunity to to remind them that they are seen and loved.
We also have the opportunity to bless the children of our Haitian leadership team. They pour their hearts into caring for the kids at Lakay day in and day out and we want their children to experience the magic of Christmas too.
Here’s how you can participate in our Christmas Bag project this holiday season:
Fill A Christmas Bag For The Teens and Kids At Chanje Lakay
If you want to bless a specific child that lives at Chanje Lakay, or the child of a staff member, you can do so by purchasing gifts based on their unique interests and specific wishlist. Intentionally buying gifts for a specific child is a beautiful way to remind them that they are cherished by God and by the Chanje Community.
You can pick up a list and a Christmas bag for a specific kid on the Crossline patio or church office from November 2 – November 16 and return it November 23. Or, you can sign up through our webform. We’ll email you the kid’s wishlist with instructions on how to get a bag.
Fill A Christmas Bag For Children In The Community
There are several young children in the neighborhood where Chanje Lakay is located and we would love to bless them with Christmas gifts this season. If you prefer to buy for younger kids, come by the Crossline Church patio and grab a community Christmas bag. There will be a list of suggested items included in the bag (or you can also download it here). If you are able, please include a $20 donation to help cover the cost of shipping. You can donate online by credit card, or in person via check or cash.
Bless A Chanje Church Partner
We have two church partners in Haiti, one in Central Haiti and one in Northern Haiti. We would love to bless both of them with a monetary gift that they can use for their congregations. These churches are doing amazing work for their communities including taking are of orphans and distributing free water and food. Your donations will go directly to them to use.
IMPORTANT INFO
- If you are filling a bag or sending a gift, please return it or send it to us by Sunday, November 23.
- If you are filling a bag for a kid at Chanje Lakay, please do your best to stick to the items on the wishlist. You do not need to purchase all of the items. Giving a just a few things that they have asked for will mean the world to them.
- If you are giving a donation, please give by December 1.
- Please DO NOT over stuff bags. They must be able to close completely and should not weigh more than 2 lbs.
- Please DO NOT include the following items: cash, food, drinks/liquids, candy/gum, vitamins, medications, lotions, toothpaste, violent toys or items, breakable items, or seeds.
- Please do not include used or broken items.
- Quality of items is more important than quantity.
