For the past 1.5 years, we have been slowly adjusting to life in northern Haiti. It has been a season of rest and calm, where the focus has been on helping the kids at Chanje Lakay do well in school, make new friends, and create joyful memories after a traumatic season.

Now, we are excited enter a new season of growth! We have big plans to expand our reach beyond Chanje Lakay and deepen our connections in the community surrounding the shelter. We want to feed more people, care for more people, meet new people, encourage more people and tell more people the good news of Jesus!

We have 5 specific growth projects that we will be working on in 2026.

Monthly Food and Gospel Outreaches

Currently the Chanje Movement team does one food outreach a month in the gang-ridden neighborhoods surrounding Port Au Prince. We want to continue doing that as well as do monthly food outreaches in northern Haiti.

The north Haitian food outreaches would provide about 100 families a month with a meal kit that includes enough rice, spaghetti, beans and oil to make 10 meals. These outreaches would also include a Gospel message and opportunities to receive prayer. The Haitian staff, as well as the older teens living at Chanje Lakay, would coordinate these outreaches with local churches and community leaders. And US teams would be able to join in when they visit.

First Aid and Trauma Kits for Community Doctors

Did you know there are only 10 functional hospitals in the entire country of Haiti? And none of them are fully functional. They suffer from staffing and supply shortages that have been caused by gang violence and interruption to supply chains.

One day we hope to build a clinic and a hospital. But until that day, we are committed to providing community doctors and nurses with as many medical supplies as we can. Last summer we were able to purchase an expansive First Aid/Trauma kit that Dr L has used to treat the children at Chanje Lakay as well as patients in the neighborhood. In fact, while a team was there over the summer, he used the kit to treat a moto accident victim.

In 2026, we not only want to keep Dr. L’s med kit stocked but we would love to bring 1 or 2 more to Haiti so that other medical personal can have the supplies needed to care for urgent needs.

Youth Summer Sports Camp

We are super excited about this one! In June 2026, we’ll be sending a US team to help the Haitian staff host a sports camp for kids in the neighborhood. We want to use sports, specifically soccer (football) and basketball, to teach kids important character traits such as team work, self-control, discipline, kindness and respect. We also hope to meet some of their physical needs by providing lunch every day, and other necessities such as shoes. Most importantly, we want to share the love of Jesus and the truth of the Gospel. Even after the US team leaves, the Haitian staff will be there to continue to support the kids through discipleship, friendship and encouragement.

5 One Year University and Trade School Scholarships

The kids at Chanje Lakay are growing up and we have 5 scheduled to graduate within the next 1-2 years. It is critical that they go either to trade school or university so that they can gain skills to find jobs and become self sufficient. We will be doing various fundraisers throughout the year to build these scholarships so that they are ready for the kids when they graduate.

Hire A Social Worker for Chanje Lakay

You may remember that in 2024, our social worker, Mr. A was wrongly imprisoned after trying to protect the children at Chanje Lakay that were held hostage. After his release, Mr. A decided to amicably part ways with Chanje Movement.

Since then, our psychologist has had to take on the roles of counselor and social worker. The work load is immense and he needs help. Not only that, but our licensing with the Haitian government requires that we have a social worker on site. We have had difficulty finding a qualified person and securing the funding to pay that person.

Our goal in 2026 is to raise enough funds for a full year salary so that when we do find the right person, we can hire them immediately

Grow Deeper With Chanje

These aren’t just programs—they’re lifelines. A meal kit that feeds a family for 10 days. A trauma kit that saves a life. A scholarship that transforms a child’s future. A sports camp where a hurting kid learns they matter. We’ve raised $10,000 toward our $30,000 goal—which means we’re one-third of the way there. With $20,000 more, we can fund every single project. Will you help us close the gap before December 31st? Your year-end gift—whether $50 or $5,000—creates chanje and gives hope to the children and families God has called us to serve in Haiti.

As always, your prayers for these projects are so appreciated. And be on the lookout for information about upcoming trips. Coming to Haiti is another great way to support Chanje.
